Wouldn't eating all the daily recommended servings of fruit/grains/etc be t!

Question: Wouldn't eating all the daily recommended servings of fruit/grains/etc be too many daily calories?
You always hear about how your supposed to have so many servings of vegetables, dairy, meat, grain daily, and according to Canada's food guide, we're supposed to consume 5-12 servings of bread/grain products, 5-10 servings of veggies/fruit, 2-4 servings of dairy products and 2-3 servings of meat products.
But if we ate all the servings they recommend, wouldnt that put us over the daily calorie recommendation of 1500-2000 calories for a regular person? For example, on a random day a person has 8 servings of grains, 9 servings of vegetables, 3 servings of dairy and 3 servings of meat. It seems like a lot of food.

I'm just curious.

I've heard the whole food pyramid thing was a total failure as far as being a useful nutrition guide. Its not just too many calories, it seems like it recommends way too many carbohydrates. But, I'm no doctor, so I can't say.
