We're getting a treadmill and..?!

Question: We're getting a treadmill and..?
I want to start working out on it. I have a little bit of a belly and I want to get rid of it. How long should I run/walk on it per day (once we get it) to make the fat go away? And do I have to eat less so the exercise actually works? This sort of stuff confuses me, so a detailed answer would be helpful. I'm 16, by the way.

A well balanced meal is the most important thing when trying to lose weight.

You want to eat enough so your body doesn't start storing fat because of the lack of calories you aren't taking in.

That being said, you should eat 3 meals a day. I won't go too far into this but make sure you get whole grains/fruits/veggies.

Everyone is different but if you can run I would suggest running for a minimum of 30 minutes at a comfortable pace, enough to get you breathing and sweating. Run at least 3 times a week. After a few weeks of following a set speed/distance, switch it up and either lengthen the run or try to run it quicker.

You should start eating healthier, vegetables, fruits, LESS SUGAR, oatmeal, yogurt.
& do not eat a lot of simple carbs [bread, pasta, cookies, etc]
Workout for like 30 - 1 hour a day.

Dont necessarily eat less but substitute fatty foods with healthier ones. Dont eat at night because the calories are harder to burn. i would say forty mins. a day. also do some stretching and things like that.
