nope - you gain weight if you eat more calories than your body needs, whether they are from carbs, fat, or protein

Check out Dr. John R. Christopher's Mucusless Diet. (NOT Arnold Ehret...) He explains that flour products are mucus-forming foods that clog your system and constipate your tissues. I don't mean constipation like, the gross kind, I mean constipation like your bodily tissues are full of mucous caused by unnatural foods....
I for one LOVE bread. So my solution is sprouted (low-heated) breads. They are really fun to make (and I hate cooking) and they are SOO good. I'd say they are the healthiest kind of bread there is.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. These ingredients are usually found in processed foods. When people go on a gluten-free diet, they eliminate the processed foods and therefore lose weight. I suspect that's what caused the idea that gluten causes weight gain. A gluten-free diet is only really critical for people with a gluten intolerance such as celiac disease. In addition, research suggests that a gluten-free diet may help people with autism or schizophrenia. Unless you belong to one of those classes, gluten should be perfectly fine for you.
