What would be the best way for me to lose weight in 5-6 months?!

Question: What would be the best way for me to lose weight in 5-6 months?
Well I'm 14, 185 lbs, and 5'9". Obviously I'm overweight and my goal weight in 6 months is 140 lbs. First off, is that a healthy goal? If not, how long would you suggest I take to get to 140 lbs? I've tried everything to lose weight over the last 2 years. I tried a juice diet for maybe a week or 2 (juice of fresh veggies and fruits plus a multivitamin) and I only lost 1 lb. I tried weight watchers for a couple months and lost like 5 lbs... I've tried calorie counting and writing in a food journal (ate 1000 cals a day) and lost maybe 2-3 lbs... I've even gone vegan before for a year (for other reasons than to lose weight) and lost 5 lbs altogether and that was the only time I kept it off. But I think that every time I lost those lbs I gained it all back. 2 yrs ago I was 165 and 5'7"... I'm currently vegetarian so keep that in mind. I also walk home from school every day (which is about a mile) and in PE class we run 1/2 mi for warm up (on Monday's we run for 10 mins straight), do sprints, stretches, 20 push ups, and 30 sit ups. I also sometimes walk my dog (my mom usually does that). I also have a pool that I could swim in if y'all think that'd help, although it's fairly cold right now...

So all in all, what should I do to lose 45 lbs in 6 months?! Suggestions? Tips? Etc...

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

First of all I think you are way too young to be worrying about your weight, you're still growing so don't starve yourself or do anything crazy.

If you're serious go to www.crossfit.com, go to the forums and read. It took me a few weeks to figure it all out because I didn't understand the names of the exercises, etc. But this workout program is just unbelievable, between myself, my wife and my mother doing these workout of the day(WODs) we've seen pretty awesome results.

Spend some time reading their forums, especially the beginner or testimonial forums. You'll also find info on there about dieting.

Do a search for a local crossfit gym where all they do is crossfit and many times they have free nights for beginners to come in and learn about what they do.

Most days when they post a WOD (workout of the day) they will have a link underneath it called "random persons name- on the WOD" where it has a video of someone doing the exercises so you can see what you're supposed to be doing.

Most of these workouts don't require much equipment so you can do them from home. But for the ones that require equipment that you don't have, there is a page that has many substitutions. This page is found in the forums section of a slightly different section of crossfit called brand x crossfit. Heres the link to the forums, the substitutions will be in the forum that says "Crossfit WOD - Scaled versions of the Workout of the Day (WOD) from CrossFit.com." Just add it too your bookmarks.

If you work this program you'll see results quickly. Best of luck to you and I hope you have a local crossfit gym(box as we call them) that you can join.

Loosing weight fast is always an unhealthy thing.
The best thing to loose and hold a healthy weight is healthy food, less sugar, lots of drinking water, and sports.
There are many diets who tell you that you can loose a lot of weight in no time. And it is working, but you are doing no good to your body. And there's also the Jojo-effect.
Diet has to begin in your head. And you already started to think about your nutrition. That's an important step. It is too easy just to make a magazine-diet for 2-3 weeks and loose some weight. But it will come back soon again. If you are over-thinking your nutrition and activity, you will have a constantly good result. Isn't that much better and healthier than a crash-diet ?
Good Luck and Take care :-)
