It's very possible. I gave up soda cold turkey and the funny thing was that I did it for no reason whatsoever (I'm average weight for my age). I know people who've done it and they've experienced some serious weight loss. I just managed to convince the rest of my family to give up soda with me and some of them have weight issues. I'm curious to see the effects on them. I think they'll be really good. Substituting soda with water or iced tea is what I did and what the rest of my family is trying. If you're looking to lose weight, this is the first step.

There are more tips and info.

1. If what you are eating has less than 1 carb, count it as 1 carb just to be sure.

2. Totally avoid caffine at least for the first two weeks on the program.

3. Drink a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of plain water or seltzer daily.

4. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week

5. Take starting measurements as well as weight - sometimes you'll lose inches before pounds

6. Avoid any type of "low carb" sweetener for the first two weeks

7. Don't compare your loss to someone else's - this is a YMMV thing (your milage may vary)

8. Stalls are common around the third week so don't panic

9. If you follow your plan to the T and don't lose, consider Candida as a possibility and avoid vinegar, cheese, mushrooms and any other fermented food

10. Have bloodwork done before starting so you have a comparison

11. Cholesterol can be elevated in the first few weeks til your body adjusts - make sure your doctor knows that you're doing low carb and when you started

12. Don't blame the diet if you don't read your plan book -- blame the diet if you don't read the labels -- Don't blame the diet if you don't follow the diet
Good Luck and Take care :-)

Yes, you can lose A LOT of weight. I hardly ever drink soda anymore (maybe once every few months) and I lost ten pounds in a couple weeks. Now I only drink milk and water. I haven't had soda in so long that I'm starting not to like it.

cutting out soda pop can really help with weight loss. but wow, 25 lbs in a week. i dunno maybe it's possible. i could lose 10 lbs in a day when i have the flu. i the past, when i watched what i ate and exercised, i've lost 10 - 15 lbs in a week.

i wouldnt say it would cause rapid weight loss unless you were drinking 2 liters a day. You will see a good loss of weight over time, but i would suggest to look at your entire diet and add some cardio into your life

Maybe not in a single week, but by just quitting soda pop, yes you will lose weight!

I lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks when I cut soda and added some exercize. Then again I drank a lot of soda.

Yes it is effective.
