confused about calories.?!

Question: Confused about calories.?
Hey everyone.
I always hear of girls saying that they are going to restrict their diet to 1200 calories a day and that they will lose weight. Well i am a girl who likes to eat food so 1200 for myself is not "enough"

so my question:
if i eat 2200calories a day and burn off 1000calories at the gym per day is that the same thing as only eating the 1200 calories a day, meaning i will lose the weight still?

Right now I probably eat more like 1800 calories a day so this would be increasing my calories per day and i'm worried if i do this i might gain rather then lose weight. I also understand that the body naturally needs 1200calories to function normally with no exercise per day. so burning 1000 and only consuming 1800calories a day would not be good, right?

only nice answers back please. This is a serious question.

Answers:

You are right; if energy used up in a day is more than energy put in you loose weight. If not you put on weight. And yes, just to function the body needs energy, especially the brain. And your figures are about right but may not be exact for you, we are all different and the figures are averages.

But don't get to hung-up about the numbers. Eat well, fresh food, nuts, fruit, vegetables, avoid sweet sugary snacks and cola type drinks, avoid processed foods. Get out in the fresh air, enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones.

There is more to life than counting calories.

Love life, laugh a lot and live well

Unless you are a lumberjack, oil derrick worker, in the army, etc... then 1200 to 1500 calories is all an average girl needs.

What you need to get past is the phychologic desire to always be full or to be eating.

But to answer your question... yes... 2200 calories a day - 1000 calories in the gym is like eating 1200 calories a day.

But 1000 calories in the gym is about the equivlant of running 9 to 10 miles.
