Can anybody help me to lose weight?!

Question: Can anybody help me to lose weight?
Over the past 2 years I have been trying to desperately lose weight, and last year I lost a stone but found out that I had put it all back on again in December. I am 16 years old and I am not too young to be losing weight, because I am obese. I weigh just over 200 pounds. It disgusts me when I step on my scales. I am the biggest in my family and now I feel I need some motivation :( I don't want to wreck the rest of my life by eating too much. Does anybody have any tips, advice, good websites that really helped them or could help me?
I really appreciate all help offered to me, Thank you

I can usefully summarise these answers in 4 words:

EAT LESS DO MORE. Are you desperate enough to try this???

GP for more years than I care to remember

www.loseit.com is really good.

it calculates your calorie budget and you can input how much you eat and exercise in the day, and you can also add friends to help keep you motivated!

Stop putting so much food in your gob. Learn a healthy diet.
Get off your backside & exercise more - go for a brisk walk every day, go swimming, do aerobics.

There is no other way.

Alright, first I recommend you to use this website and create an account to begin your journey! http://caloriecount.about.com

Secondly, calculate your resting metabolic rate here: http://preventdisease.com/healthtools/ar…

It shows you the amount you have to eat to maintain your weight. And if you used to eat, say around 2800 calories a day. Slowly cut down, day by day, until you get down to a comfortable calorie limit. I would recommend 1400 calories. And when you eat that amount, make sure to exercise away 500 of those by either jogging for 1,5 hour. Or swimming for 1 hour, rope jumping for around an hour. Your daily food schedule could look like this:

Breakfast: Some soy milk OR skim milk + healthy cereal (with fiber to get your stomach going) = 300 calories max.
A.m snack: 1 medium apple = 52 calories
Lunch: In school (1 portion with carbohydrates, protein, and essential fat) = max 400 calories
Pm snack: 1 handful of nuts = 200 calories
Pm snack nr 2: Green tea with 2 fruits and a vegetable = 150 calories (Ex, apple, orange, carrot)
Dinner: Homemade food with carbohydrates, protein and essential fat max 300 calories
Total:1402 calories.

But remember, slowly cut down every day, one day 2800, another 2500, until you get down to 1400. And make sure to drink PLENTY of water. It helps a lot! and if you have time, take a brisk walk in the morning, like 30 minutes or one hour is alright :)
Remember, it's about your willpower, you want to make changes, you want to become more physically active and live your life to the fullest!

And dieting is as mental as it is physical, everyday you should write in a diary. Write everything in your diary, what was good about your day, what got you upset etc. Don't be afraid to cry while listening to a song or something. There is a reason you are at this weight, and even though you may or may not know it, you do turn to food for comfort. It's called binge eating. So write in a diary, and look at yourself in the mirror, and try even if it's hard, just try to come up with 5 positive things about your looks. Your eyes, hair, nails, teeth etc. We all have beauty in us, we just got to love ourselves to realize it. And on that website you can meet a lot of people that are struggling with this, and people who successfully lost weight by using that site, and lots of forums that can help you :)

So I wish you the best luck!

Best wishes/Miranda

Well we could be diet buddies if you want...

I live in the UK and am 17 years old, when I was 15 I was 5'7" and weighed 240lb (so believe me I completely understand what it is like to be obese) I am still 5'7" and currently weigh about 160lb after gaining 11lb back in November and December last year.

I was to lose another 27lb to get to my ideal weight of 133lb.

We could share stats every week to track each others progress, that would be weight, bust, waist, hip and thigh measurements.
Plus everyday we could tell each other what we have eaten and what exercise we have done and give each other encouragements/tips.
