I need to improve on Push Ups quickly: HELP!!?!?!


Question: I need to improve on Push Ups quickly: HELP!!?!?
I can only just do 3 at the moment, have no upper body strength whatsoever and was wondering if anyone has any tips on what you can do to increase upper body strength in a short period to enable me to do more? I'm doing a fitness test in 2 weeks and need to be able to do 6!

Just keep doing them, even if you can't complete a rep, keep doing them. Spend about 1/2 hour twice a day doing them.

I went from about 38 to 75 in about 2 weeks. The only way to get better at pushups is to do pushups.



I used to be in your same position, but now i can do like 15 :D I also had to get better at them because of fitness testing :/

Everyday try doing more and more push ups each night, sometimes it helps if you do push ups at an angle like against a wall in the beginning to strengthen your arms and work up to normal push ups. You can also start with "girl" push ups, which is the same thing as normal push ups, just with your knees on the ground. While practicing normal pushups, make sure your back is flat (not arched) and go down so that your arms are at a 90 degree angle.

Every other day, When you wake up, do 3. In the Middle of day do 3. Before you go to bed do 3 push-ups for a total 9 pushups a day. Keep at this until its test day. I guarantee you'll be able to do 6. Remember to do it every other day. Your body actually gets stronger during rest periods because when you work out, you're actually tearing you muscles, and when you rest, your body repairs them even stronger. To aid in muscle growth, be sure drink a few glass of milk a day and eat meat for the protein to help grow your muscles.



Add weight to your frame while performing the excercise...



Keep doing them. A lot.
