Question: I just started mma and grappling 4 weeks ago at 280 lbs how long will it take to lose 80 lbs?
i barely exercised as of after high school i basically did nothing and right now im doing a pretty decent diet egg,milk,protein shake,meats,veggies,fruits,ect but i keep worrying that i wont lose weight cause of my anxiety....i just need to know if this is going to work out or not cause of how many things can make you not lose weight and can i really count on scales for actual weight also i have been trying as hard as i possibly could i really don't want my effort to go to waste.

Basically, Your body burns carbs and fat. However the burning of carbs and fat is not equal. When you start to work out you burn more carbs than fat and can be recognized as Carbs>Fat. After about 30 minutes your body goes though a transition where the amount of carbs is the same as amount of fat being burnt and can be recognized as Carbs=Fat. This transition only last for about 5 minutes then more fat is being burned than Carbs. This is Carbs<Fat. What is important to know is you are Burning about 90% Carbs 10% fat in the being then they swap places in the 5 minute transition. An example of this can be if you run for 30 min everyday you wont see any changes. But if you run for 45 minutes you will see your "fat" areas getting smaller! If you change your carb intake you can lose weight quicker though! This will work I am wrestler. This is how you cut weight! Run for a long time.



I would say give yourself a good 6 months to lose 80 lbs. As far as your diet I would try weight watchers on line. It really helps you out with meal ideas and keeps track of your progress. There is also a helpful community of dieters to discuss your problems with. Maybe this would ease your anxiety. It's important that you decrease stress and anxiety because this can make you gain weight. I say just reach out to people in the know and think positively and everything will work out the way it should.
