How do I start eating better with my family?!

Question: How do I start eating better with my family?
I am really trying to eat better. I want to lose over 15 pounds before Aug. because I want to fit into a great dress for an award I am getting. So I have the exercise part down. But the hardest part is for me is my family. I still live at home and I have no support from my family. I eat really good for breakfast and lunch but come dinner I have a hard time because we have a very unhealthy dinner. What are some tips to help me get my family start to eat better so that I do have to be tempted with bad food.

That's always tough when you are surrounded by unhealthy temptations. Try eating a healthy snack BEFORE dinner so when you sit down to eat with the family you aren't very hungry and can just politely nibble on a few things.

Another trick would be to bring a big dinner salad to the table with you. Focus on that when you are eating and (again) just nibble on what the rest of the family is eating.

If you would like to see the rest of the family develop healthier eating habits too, give them the opportunity to experience healthy AND tasty foods. Offer to make part of the dinner each night... or alternately make the entire dinner once or twice a week (as it fits your schedule).

First, you have to encourage your family to want to eat better. Tell them healthy alternatives to junky foods, and tell them the health benefits of eating healthier overall. Eating as a family is a great thing, and tell them that your mission is to eat healthy, and quit bad-eating habits. Ask them to join in too!
Ask them to buy healthier foods when they take a trip to the grocery store. Tell them that dinner is just as important as any other meal.

At the next family meal, bring this up to the whole family that everyone needs better nutrition to be better in school, sports, and to look better for warmer weather clothing. Make it a challenge for everyone, get input and suggestions from everyone. Put up a chart of your goal (make reasonable weekly weight loss, exercise goals) so everyone can cheer you on and see your progress. Have weekly rewards for the family, like a special meal, and a big family reward in August after you've received your award, so the whole family can be rewarded for helping and supporting you meet your weight loss goal. Come up with some place to visit that's fun that you'll all enjoy. It will be a win-win for all. Your goal is attainable and it can be fun together as a family. Congratulations! Hope this helps.

Hello,
Try to include more resistance traning in your workouts. Why? Reason is simple, muscle is a great fat burner even at your resting metabolic rate means that you will burn more calories . Cardio only burns while you do it and once you stop runing its not really doing much for you until the next day .So if you are looking to burn fat and want to make it easier to keep it off you must include resistance. Calorie intake is important but the basic rule is burn more calories than you eat to lose fat. So since 3500 calories equals to one pound of fat if you cut 500 calories daily from you daily intake or burn 500 calories more than you eat in a day. You can lose 1 pound a week. Hope this helped.

You can't change anyone overnight. Your family will have to decide to eat healthy on their own time but you can incorporate some healthy items that taste good. For example, grilled vegetables, grilled meat without the heavy sauces. Bring some fruits and veggies home and put them them out. You may find you're not the only one in the family interested in eating healthy.

Eat smaller portions and eat slower; also drink a large glass of water 30 minutes before dinner and make sure you have decent snacks like low fat cheese sticks or a TBS peanut butter with celery ( low fat cream cheese is good too ). Tell your family you want to be healthier and they need to support you.

You are doing the right thing: In other words, you have a hearty breakfast in the morning and a light dinner in the evening. Do not be swayed by your family. Eventually they will come around to your point of view. Keep it up

There is no time like the present, you should replace your dinner with fruits or vegg, because when you eat heady food and then go to sleep that cease up the stomach.
