If you do strength training every day and train more than half your body each day you must be over-training and that will inhibit muscle growth. You need to allow time for the worked muscles to recover before working them again or they will not grow or will grow slowly and never reach their maximum potential. How much recovery time is required in a very individualized thing and depends on many factors. Generally young people and newbies recover quickly but should allow 1-2 days to recover. Older people or people with well trained muscles who are near their lifetime maximum hypertrophy should allow from 5-7 days to recover. As your muscles become increasingly well trained you'll need to increase the recovery time between workouts.

A qualitative test to find out if you're over-training is to make sure you improve on the first set of each exercise from one workout to the next. You must improve something even if it's only a half a rep more or more strict form and if you don't, that muscle group is probably being over-trained. You'll see that a lot in the biceps because they get used more than most other muscles. They are used in almost all upper body exercises and in slinging the iron around the gym, racking it, etc.

If you believe you're over-training, take a week off and start again with a day added between workouts involving the over-trained muscle group. However, don't mistake a plateau or adaptation for over-training. You need to vary your workouts often to prevent adaptation though there's much controversy about how much adaptation is a problem and what to do about it.

You might want to Google Art Jones or Ellington Darden...they "wrote the book" on over-training.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and good health!!

if your trying to get bigger/stronger cardio is pointless
if your trying to loose fat/get lean then that is fine
