Why are all my friends losing weight but me?!

Question: Why are all my friends losing weight but me?
My friends and I are all 16 and they seem to be loosing weight and getting into their figures. I, on the other hand seem to only remain the same weight and when I do loose weight it's only a couple of pounds every once in awhile. I'd say we all eat about the same thing and our eating habits are similar. They're thin though and I'm not thin but I'm not fat either, more so on the kind of chubby side. I've been dying to lose weight because I am very self-conscious and I don't even feel comfortable in my own skin. I want to fast for a little while, will it help me? I know that starving yourself isn't good and you'll only gain weight in the end but once I start to lose some weight using this method and continue to eat right, will it help?

Answers:

Don't fast, it'll only slow down your metabolism! Have you tried drinking more water? Seriously, try to drink around 2.5 liters of water a day, it will make you feel more full and it will help out your metabolism. I also find it helps me not to snack, I just always have a jug/bottle of water handy. Also, try eating your last meal three hours before you go to bed. This might make you feel a bit peckish at night but when you wake up in the morning your stomach will be flatter- ALWAYS make sure to break your fast afterwards though! Try a soft boiled egg (whites are squishy and yolk is still runny) on whole wheat toast in the morning, it's sooo good! Don't skip breakfast because then you'll just eat more later on and your metabolism will be slow.

Send me a message if you want someone to talk to about it.

Looots of research. I'm sixteen, too, and I've been trying to lose weight. Went from 123 to 110 in three weeks! No starving myself!

Brief fasting will not slow your metabolism - only fasting for days.

But, you're not old enough to be trying fasting just yet. Maybe try eating less, eating better, and skipping all junk, moving more. Maybe skip one meal sometimes, but not breakfast.

Exercise is always good for improving body composition and body shape. Get strong.

Try to be the best you and forget about how your friends are doing.

Dont starve your self, but eat smaller portions, only til your satisfied, not til your really full or stuffed. Take up running if you can, even if its cold its a good idea to. Running really hopes tone leg and stomach muscles. I took up running and my stomach has never looked better!

It might just depend on your genes and everyone is different. I would say exercise as much as possible, that willalso get your mind off of eating...just eat as healthy and as little as possible.
