Starting to lose weight... any tips?!

Question: Starting to lose weight... any tips?
I'm 16 I'm 5"11 and I weigh 298 pounds. I really want to start losing weight and better myself and I'm wanting to know how to get on the right track for a better and healthy life.

I have a treadmill and 20 lbs barbells and 125 lbs to bench. (I can do reps with the 20 lbs barbells and I can bench 110 lbs.)

Whats the best exercises for me to do?
How many days should I work out in a week?
How long should I work out for?
How many calories should I be trying to lose every day?

I know its going to take a long time to lose weight and I'm not looking for any extreme diets or anything to lose 100 lbs in a month. I want to do this right.. how long should it take for me to lose 100 lbs?

Thanks for all the help.

Go to scooby1961's YouTube channel. I've been losing weight doing what he says and all his advice, tips, recipes, workouts, etc are completely free (again it's YouTube).

The ways he suggests to lose weight are not fun, but they work. When you're genuinely serious about it though, you do what it takes and then slowly but surely you see results.

You can lose weight if you tried correct program. I tried many program, but could not lose weight. I found the best program that works just amazing for anyone. I lost my weight fast using this weight loss program. You must have look correct info that works. I lost 18 pounds after 50 days with this weight loss program. I highly recommend you. It should take about a year to lose 100 lbs, possibly less. I would recommend that you spend 20-30 minutes on the treadmill everyday. Always start out walking (3 mph) for 1/4 of a mile and end with walking 1/2 mile. Run as far as you reasonably can at 4.5 mph (hopefully you can make it 1/4 of a mile), and then walk for 1/4-1/2 a mile. Repeat (run at 4.5 for 1/4 a mile and walk) Do that 2-3 times. End by walking a 1/2 mile at 3 mph. I'll rewrite that in a more visual way:

Walk = 3 mph
Run = 4.5 mph

1. Walk for 1/4 a mile
2. Run for a 1/4 a mile
3. Walk until you feel ready to run again (1/4-1/2 mile)
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 once
5. Repeat only step 2
6. Walk 1/2 mile or until your heart rate is back to normal

Do this everyday, and increase the difficulty as you get healthier. Instead of running 1/4 a mile, run 1/2 a mile, or instead, repeat step 2 and 3 twice instead of only once. This workout should take about 20-30 minutes. No less than 20 though!

Weigh yourself ONCE a week, not everyday. It's normal for your weight to fluxuate quite a bit from day to day. If you check your weight everyday, you may become discouraged when one day you measure yourself, and you've gained weight. Measuring your weight once a week will ensure that (if you're doing what you're supposed to) you will always get a lower reading.

Also take into consideration that muscle-building workouts might actually cause your weight to go up. Perhaps a better measuring standard would be waist inches if you plan on lifting weights much.

Oh, and if you find your muscles get really sore, take a break for a day. You could harm your muscles by pushing yourself while they're sore. Stretching before running will help prevent soreness though.

I wish you the best luck in losing 100 lbs!!! We're all rooting for you! :D

*--------------* EDIT *---------------*

Did you know that it takes the average person 3 weeks to make something a habit and only 1 day to break it?

The best exercises are cardio workouts like running, swimming, and riding a bike. They target your whole body to help you loose weight. It seems like you are very dedicated to working out. You should do cardio 5-6 times a week for more than 30min (under 30min and you won't lose weight). As for calories, the minimum to consume is 1,200, any less and your metabolism will slow because your body will think it needs to conserve fat since you are not consuming enough food. Loosing weight is more than working out, it is about eating right (not going on extreme diets like you said). You should also consider weight watchers online. It is NOT one of those crazy extreme diets, they help you choose the right, healthy foods and loose weight. It is actually part of their plan to have you work out. Hopefully this helps.
