Muscles aren't sore after working out?!

Question: Muscles aren't sore after working out?
Hello, my friend and I began training for a triathlon on Monday. Every day this week, we've been to the gym both running and swimming. Each time I've run anywhere between 3/4 mi - 1 1/2 mi. and swam between 200yd.-500yd. (taking periodic breaks, of course...I'm super out of shape)

The strange thing is, my muscles aren't sore at all! And I'm not an exerciser by any stretch of the imagination...I've never gone running before Monday and I just learned how to swim (with technique) in November.

Am I not doing enough? I realize the point of working out is not to be sore, but I just thought that my lack of soreness is strange.

when your muscles are sore it means they have been starved of oxygen and the muscle tissue has been damaged. If you are taking occasional breaks to let you cells get oxygen they are not sustaining damage from lack of oxygen so they are not sore. Just because your mucles don't hurt after a work out it doesn't mean you havn't done enough it just means you havn't damaged your muscle tissue by starving it of oxygen

if your young you will not have sore muscles as you could be on the go all day.just remember that in exercise the aim of the game is endurance not bigger or sorer muscles if you can complete your triathlon in fair time and not be sore maybe you should step up to a bigger challenge. the other side is if you do warm ups for 15 Min's before exercise and after exercise then you are stretching your properly and this is why you do not have sore muscles

Your right it is strange. Muscle soreness and cramps are made from lactic acid. Perhaps your body does not have enough of that. Problem with your kidneys?
You might just want to start working out harder. You won't get better unless you lush yourself.
Hope this helps,
Mitch
