Question: I'm low body fat but can't get cut.?
I am a 19 year old male, 5'6" and 117 pounds. I've calculated myself to be somewhere between 7-12% body fat. I'm trying to lose my gut. I know I'm not fat in any way but I have this layer of fat over my stomach that I can't seem to get rid of. I am currently deployed overseas and I don't always have time to get to the gym but do a lot of ab exercises every day. Anywhere from a total of 480-1440 reps of different ab exercises. I do them on my breaks when I can. I do seated knee raises, laying knee raises, knee reach crunches, V-ups, crunches, side crunches, and leg reach raises. I do each exercise a total of 4 sets with 15 reps in each set. I was told to do russian twists with weights or decline sit ups but I have no way to do decline sit ups and I don't have weights normally most of the time. I've been told to diet but All that's available to eat is what's in the chow hall or what's brought to me so I don't always have a choice. It's eat fatty stuff or don't eat at all. I've never been over 130 pounds in my life and I lost 10 pounds in 10 months without working out one bit last year. If someone could give me some exact meals I could look to eat and give me some insight on my work out I would be very appreciative. When I say I do that ab workout that is all I do. Abs abs abs. Should I look to getting Hydroxycut or something of the sort? Thanks.

I would definitely focus on your work at hand. With a body fat of 7-12% you really need to focus on staying fueled up right now and not staying lean.

Considering everything going on in the world you need to be prepared for the possibility of not being able to eat for several days should something go haywire considering how fragile the Middle East is right now. Focus on being ready for anything instead of a little belly fat.

You are 19 years old.
Your body still has several years before it reaches full maturity. Focus on eating as much healthy food while you can when you can.
When you are done with your service you will find how hard and expensive it is to eat a healthy diet.
Stay strong, stay focused, and stay away from the bogus weight loss or "cutting" supplements.
