Questions about fasting?!

Question: Questions about fasting?
I'm a obese male (315 pounds, I was previously 335 and 6'0 tall). I've lost 20 pounds in a month by exercising some and eating well, drinking water. I'd like to cleanse my body and give it a rest from digesting solids but I know that you need calories daily to keep your body functioning. Also if you don't eat your metabolism slows down...Well, I'd like to fast all day tomorrow but I don't want to gain weight when I start to eat again the day after tomorrow. What can I do to keep my metabolism up while also keeping my body functioning. Should I restrict all food and just drink water or should I go on a liquid fast with water, milk, orange juice and soup? There is benefits from fasting, right??????????
Thanks.

Answers:

Fasting is actually the best detox for your body (and mind, btw), as long as you keep up your water intake, fasting for a day won't affect you much, it's when you do it for afew days that you get the benefits with copious amounts of toxins being released. As a result, the toxins leaving your body will make you feel terrible; once they go, you'll feel great.
However, fasting is useless as a cleanse if you just intend on putting all those toxins back into your body. A total lifestyle change and change of eating habits is needed and that should be done over time, and be permanent, to be more effective.
Best of luck.

DO NOT FAST
fasting is worse for your body. If you want to lose weight, you should continue exercising. You could lose weight while getting stronger. Fasting weakens you. Eat spicy foods to boost your metabolism.

There are benefits to Cleansing. BUT, not a removal of food during that time. It's about different choices during that time to obtain max benefits. Start with a QUALITY cleanse. Not some concoction you find on the internet and don't turn to Walmart.

So, what's your plan afterwards? How much weight are you wanting to lose and what kind of time frame have you given yourself? You need realistic goals with a realistic game plan. It sounds like you're making good food choices . .. adding exercise is great!!! Positive movement forward. Add at the very least a quality multivitamin and Omega 3.

If you drink sodas (even diet) lose them. Water is a great choice, you can always add a chunk of lemon if you find you want some extra flavor. Here's the thing, you want to make choices you can live with and not worry about the dreaded "DIET" word.
