Running To Burn Fat .. Help!?!

Question: Running To Burn Fat .. Help!?
Hey(:

I am a young teenage girl (junior high) and I weigh about 140 lbs.. and i am 5'2.

I heard that ab exercises (crunches, etc) dont work because they just build muscle under fat.. so i need to do cardio to burn fat?

here are my questions..
1. do i still need to do ab workouts AND cardio or just cardio and if both which one should i do first in my workout?

2. before summer if i am dedicated.. how much weight can i lose (my goal is like 110)

3. diets?

4. how much should i run? (how long, far. etc)

**note: I dont drink soda, i dont eat a lot of meat tho i do eat meat, and i love fruits and veggies (:**

thanks!
xoxo

(1) Ab workouts are only going to tone your abs and if you're still needing to lose fat, there's no need for you to actively engage those as a large part of your workout right now.

You can look up core exercises and ways to strengthen those muscles that can help you as a runner, but other than that, at this point in times it's not critical to your weight loss. Also, when running do look up proper stretching motions and way to stretch your hamstrings and other parts of your legs ultimately to be better equipped to run and prevent injury, pulled muscles, etc.

(2) If truly dedicated, within the first month it's possible to lose around 10 pounds which is a little more than 2 pounds a week but that usually only happens initially with persistence and a lot of work.

So essentially, let's just say you start this March 1st and stop May 28th which is around 13 weeks of exercising and dieting that could be anywhere from losing 13 - 26 pounds depending how hard you work.

(3) And if you keep up the pace and eat six, smaller healthier meals per day rather than three bulky meals that will keep your metabolism vibrant and as effective as possible to lose the most weight, you can lose around 1-2 pounds a week.

It's great that you've cut out sodas because that's typically the number one causative agent of being overweight. Don't starve yourself of food, and eat snacks throughout the day like I said above and that also helps regulate your insulin levels and keeps you healthy altogether.

Also, keep in mind to gradually cut out all fried and fatty foods. Processed foods have preservatives within them that elongate shelf life, but decrease human life. Again, remember to gradually cut out the junk or you're going to be more likely to crave them and overeat foods that you haven't in a long time.

That's the key to losing weight that fouls up everybody's diet plan at least once: it's gradual.

(4) Start running at a point where you're capable; the very first time I set foot on the pavement to run around the neighborhood I could barely go 0.25 miles before I was gasping for air, my lungs were burning, and my legs felt as if they were about to collapse although my mind knew how hard I was trying to push forward.

Don't get discouraged early in the running process; if it was easy, everyone would do it. The first two weeks will probably be the worst in terms of being sore, pain, and being fatigued however every step forward is another step closer to your goal and as you start realizing you are passing one mailbox 30 seconds faster than you did before, it may not seem significant, but those seconds will add up and soon enough you will have cut minutes from your mile time.

Getting into running was probably one of the best things I've ever done for myself and would recommend it to anybody. Another great thing is that it doesn't cost 30 dollars a month nor does it cost a thousand dollars like a treadmill - the roads are free and always open.

Best of luck, you'll get there.

Well, many plans are made; but few come to fruition over the long haul. So, do something. Then, check the results. If it works, keep doing it. If not, change something. There are many variables above. Play around with them. Do what makes you happy, not fatigued and sickly.

Ah,runing is a good way to loose mass, doing sit ups e.t.c when your belly sticks out wouldnt say doing them is a good thing so diet and free run for an hour or so =)
