anorexia recovery advice?!

Question: Anorexia recovery advice?
So I'm having major problems with my recovery from anorexia. I'm not allowed to exercise, other than go on like 40 minute walks and it's freezing outside today so I can't go... I just hate not doing anything and eating so much more than I was, I feel so guilty and like the food's just sitting in my stomach turning into fat. How do I overcome this? anyone else had experience with this disorder?

I do have experience with that, yes and I understand how horrible it feels to just let food sit in your stomach when you're used to starving yourself or exercising after you eat.

However, this is one time when you need to try to be logical. I won't give you the numbers on it (because that could lead to more obsessing on your part), but you must eat A LOT of excessive calories to gain even a pound. And by excessive, I mean well beyond your body's needs. And your body does need nutrients, even if you aren't exercising. Not only does food provide energy but it also helps your body function on a very basic level.

Anorexia (as well as other eating disorders) is a basically a crutch. It's a way to prevent feeling pain and other undesirable emotions. But truth be told, it creates more problems than it solves. Overcoming this isn't easy. You must change the way you think. Don't let the "anorexic voice" in. The voice that tells you you're getting fat or that you need to starve yourself. It sounds strange, but I ended up talking back to it (in my head obviously). Be logical with yourself.

Do you have a therapist? Talking to someone else can be extremely helpful and a good therapist can teach you some ways to overcome this battle. You can get through it, but it won't be easy. However, you will be stronger for having fought through it.

Best of luck.

Well, last year I used to be anorexic, but I didn't tell anybody because I was too scared too. I overcame it by eating healthy (1300-1800 calories a day, no junk food, foods low in fat) And by exercising an hour 5 days a week. And after that I felt a lot better about myself, but 5 months later...and I started taking diet pills again, and lowering how much I eat everyday....you should tell someone how your are feeling, and that you might start going into your old ways again....if I could, I would too.

The best ansuer I can give is try not to obsess, I know easier said than done but maybe take up a hobby that takes your mind off whats in your tummy.

Take things day by day, then one day you will wake up and things will be easy.
