Answers:

You can eat strawberries. Also excercise more than 20min. Go On a 1-2 hour hike daily and stay emotionally safe about yourself. It is proven to work.

First of all congrats on taking control of your health now. Most people don't seem to learn good health when they're young -- or it doesn't sink in. Bad habits in youth are often overcome by high metabolism. As you get older, bad eating habits often stick around, activity tends to decrease and metabolism drops resulting in gradual weight gain. Before you know it you are part of the 63% of overweight Americans.

The number one thing I can suggest is awareness. Educate yourself on food, drink, body chemistry, etc.

Your plan is very sound as it isn't too unrealistic and combines both exercise and healthy eating. The water drinking is also important and it is wonderful that you like to drink water.

Fruit in general is a great choice for meals, snacks, and drinks. A fruit smoothie is really nice especially in the summer when you crave something cold and sweet. I use frozen packaged fruit (no sugar added) as they are often flash-frozen and still have most of their nutrients. I also like using fresh fruit. (Tip: When your bananas start to go too ripe, cut them up into chunks, stick them in a bag, and toss them in the freezer. Frozen banana chunks are a great staple for all frozen drinks.) Frozen fruit alone is too thick, so add some liquid. Avoid adding sugar. Sprite Zero is my favorite to add. Just be sure to open your carbonated drink a few minutes before or it'll get messy during/after the blend. Get one of those small single serving blenders like the Magic Bullet.

Tips for weight loss: Journal what you eat (serving size, calories, fat, carbs, protein) and be aware of your daily allowances. Take a picture of what you eat so you can write it down later. Avoid processed foods. Get rid of "bad foods" in the cupboards and fridge and stock up on "good foods" (for example: bring home your favorite fruits instead of chips). Drink lots of any liquid -- water is best -- avoid sugar including high fructose corn syrup. Drink before, during and after your meal (and throughout the day). Do not starve yourself (slows metabolism). Don't eat when you're bored -- only when you detect hunger. When you have the urge to eat and aren't hungry, do something else that will keep your mind off food (read a book, go for a walk, web surf, whatever works for you). Have a plan when you go out to eat (including school lunches). Look at sites like LiveStrong.com to find what the healthier choices are at restaurants.

Muscle is more dense than fat, so if you are converting a lot of fat to muscle, your initial weight loss will be less dramatic. But muscle will ramp up weight loss as it burns fat even when you're not exercising.

You don't want to lose too quickly or you risk losing some of your valuable muscle as well as fat. Losing 1-2 pounds a week is a good rate. Any more than 3 pounds a week and you risk losing muscle (be sure to get plenty of protein for muscle and metabolism). Twelve weeks at 2 pounds a week average is 24 pounds.

You don't have to eat only healthy foods. Cautiously take care of your "bad food" cravings. Eat "bad foods" by being strict with portions. I find it helpful to give myself 1 meal a week where I can go a little crazy.

Give yourself lots of goals. Not just 20 pounds in 3 months. Try weekly goals, percentages (e.g. 5% loss), exercise goals (how long can you jog before having to go back to a walk), waist size, etc. Picture yourself in your bathing suit at your goal. Hang some pictures of people in swimsuits on your wall for positive reminders of your goal.

Work on strengthening your core muscles (the muscles in you mid section and legs). These are big muscles and they will burn the most fat.

Do activities that are fun. Give all activities a fair chance. I didn't like walking for the first dozen or more times even walking with my friend. Now I love to walk -- even by myself.

The main thing is to not be discouraged. Your weight will fluctuate a lot naturally. The scale isn't the only indication of your health. Healthy living will show in your clothing sizes, muscle tone, and inside your body (cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, heart rate, etc.).

A lot of info to ingest, but knowledge will help you live a longer and happier life. Good luck!
