No. Running 10 minutes a day will probably do very little, although it would be better than nothing.

If you want a flat stomach crunches are the best way to go. Personally I like doing pilates because it works all areas of the stomach. I did the Mary Winsor 20 minute workout every day for a month and people really noticed the results. I had the DVD but you can see the same video on youtube. I've posted the links below in sources. On youtube the 20 min workout has 3 parts, they're all below.

The Winsor Pilates workout will also help your legs, but that's all toning, which is essential, but to burn off flab you need cardio. You can start with a run walk routine. Doing sprints like this is the most efficient way to burn fat. Bring a stop watch or you cell phone or a digital watch with you when you run and time yourself to run for two minutes, then walk for 6 minutes. Its not about time spent running but distance covered, so you can plan out your route on http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ . Selecting "manual straight lines" will let you plan a route that's on bike paths/trails as well as streets.

If you run 2 miles to start with, don't worry about how long it takes you or how much you have to walk vs. run, just finish. Do it with a friend. Alternate running 3 days a week every other day with pilates 3 days a week, leaving one day for recovery. Alternating days allows the muscles you've used in your workout to rebuild and recover before the next workout. Make sure you get enough protein to help build muscle because that's what burns fat while you're not exercising, and makes you look fit. I like to drink a chocolate 100% whey protein powder shake mixed in skim milk within 1 hour of any workout. Research shows that it should be at least within one hour of your workout to achieve best results but just the whey protein powder alone makes a huge difference. I had a trainer who turned me onto it and since then I've made a believer of so many people who thought it was just for muscle heads. And don't worry, you won't look like a muscle builder. Girls have to try really really really hard and basically take steroids to look like that. It's not gonna happen.

Do that, eat right (no soda/processed sugars) and you'll be in better shape than you were just doing sports at school!
