Question: Hi, I'm 14, 5'8 and 225pounds, I do not look 225 pounds, probably around 190, tips for dieting?
I want to start a diet program, Maybe just at home, as we do not have that much money to spare at this time. I tend to eat when I'm bored, or emotionally distressed... As much as i hate for what i have let food do to me, I can't stop!, please help me, I'm honestly desperate right now...

Answers:

Switch from white rice, bread, and pasta to whole grain.
Don't drink any soft drinks, only water. Juices have alot of sugar in them, instead of a glass of OJ with a bunch of sugar in it just eat an actual orange. Green tea is also great, not black tea and not coffee.
No more trans fats (fried food)
As little saturated fats as possible, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated are better.
Don't eat alot of red meat, its hard for your body to digest, fish is better. Eat fish that are low in mercury (tilapia, shrimp, Mackerel , oyster, Salmon, Sardine, etc.)
Eat alot of veggies, veggies with everymeal and a variety try to have a little of every color on your plate.
Eat fruit too but not too much because fruits do have sugar in them.

Portion control, if you have less on your plate and you savor it, you will naturally eat less. American restaurants serve ridiculous portions. Alot of times you will eat more calories in one meal than you should in a day.

Eat six small meals a day, or 3 medium size meals and 3 snacks. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be the largest.

something that helps alot of ppl lose weight is too drink like 2 large glasses of water when they eat WITH EVERYTIME YOU EAT!. it filles up your stomich and you can't eat as much food so you will feel fuller. and the water weight you will lose quickly cuz the water in your body regulates (so you'll just pee it out). also eat more complex carbohydrates, foods with complex carbohydrates take longer to burn so you stay full longer. go on google and look up foods with alot of complex carbohydrates and tell you momma to get them at the grocery store. :) and get some excersize too. a little but of excersize is alot better then none.

i used to be fat :D. the water thing works good!

i have an idea of where your coming from. im 15, 5'2 and 130 pounds which is a normal weight but im short so it makes me chubby. ive always tried dieting and starving myself and things like that which always fail for me. i also eat when im bored or upset. and usually durring summer i gain atleast 12 pounds just from sitting around and being bored. but recently i started going to weight watchers with my mom. its really cool because you can honestly eat whatever you want. like they give you a certain amount of points depending on age and weight. (i get 29) and i can just eat whatever as long as i write it down in my little book. amazing foods like ice cream are only like 1 or 2 points. pizzas like 7. and plus on top of that i get 49 extra for the whole week so i really dont even feel like im on a diet but ive lost like 9 pounds within my first 3 or 4 weeks. its seriously so cool. you should look into it. best of luck hunny <3

person experience.

There are simple things you can do. One try and cut back eating white flower. Bagels, pastas, and bread. Also instead of turning to food try turning to something active go for a run ride a bike. It will help relax you and burn calories at the same time.

Learn to do something like playing the guitar that occupies your time and your hands. It's also a great creative outlet.

eat crackers when ur bored try doing something else besides eating when ur sad/bored u should try to eat vegatbles
