Can one gain muscles like this?!

Question: Can one gain muscles like this?
Okay If i can't go to a gym but i have heavy things at home like a 50-pound box and other heavier things and maybe work my way up to a refrigerator (Complete exaggeration but you see what i mean) and either bench press or squat with these things, could i gain muscles?? Maybe Tires as well? Many answers please :D?

Answers:

yes i suppose one could gain muscle by doing so. It would not be particularly safe.

It will depend a lot on the shape of the objects, but a lot can be achieved with very basic equipment. Larger items would be good for powerlifting moves but make sure you keep good form or you'll end up with an injury. Anything heavy you can grab with both hands can be lifted in a power-clean motion from the floor to your shoulders in one smooth movement, then squated with, and finally shoulder-pressed, before returning to the floor, that's one rep. 3 sets of 10 of these will fire u right up. If you have something of similar shape to a barbell you can deadlift it by making 2 crude harnesses with rope and 2 short pieces of pipe for handles. Rope is also great for back work, if you can fix it to climb it, or harness it to a pulley, a strong tree branch for example, to lift loads with. With a load across your shoulders you can squat walk (lunge forward and dip as low as you can with each step), take 20 steps, then stop and walk backwards, these will really work your legs and core, do 3 sets forward and back. Chest is the hardest due to safety, anything short of a weighted bar that you can rack is unwise to press over your body incase dropped, your closest option would be to sit with a heavy object on your lap, then lean back with it against your chest and press upwards. Various press ups will round out your chest work well, walking your hands from side to side as you press adds difficulty, as do obstacles to step over to alter the pressing position. If you have access to a large truck tyre, these are great for flipping over distances, and try beating one with a large 2 handed lump hammer, really good full body combo.
Now get stuck in.

Go on youtube look up home excerises. benching a 50 pound box seems unsafe. You should stick with the basics, pushups, pull-ups, sit ups, squats and lunges, you will be suprised the results you will get. And from experiance, its not about the amount of weight you lift, its all about form and how you eat
