I'd heard the eliptical burns a little more, cause not only does it give a total bottom half workout, it also works out the arms, and increases heartrate more. I'm not sure if this is true.
But for me i think it works better with your thighs and butt, and its alot easier on your joints.
Plus if you use a really high incline, its almost like doing high knee running.
Both are great for a cardio workout, but the elliptical gives you more options for resistance and interval training. If you combine resistance with your cardio (setting the intensity to 10 or higher) you'll be working your muscles harder, and you'll see definition more quickly.
Both are excellent but you can add more variety (and keep your work outs varied so that your body doesn't simply get used to the same exercise) with the treadmill, making the treadmill better. Good luck with whichever you choose! :)
Elliptical burns more colories, however the treadmill generally is better because it tones more and you can actually feel the toning / burning :)
