I just answered a question regarding this that asked for meal plans and exercise. This is what I posted!
The best way is to eat healthy and exercise! I can give you some tips that i have learned among my weight loss journey!

6 small meals helps! It boosts up your metabolism also green tea and vitamin B50!
Some in-between snacks i munch on that are healthy are.
Apples with cinnamon spread or low fat cream cheese.
A whole wheat wrap with peanut butter and apples.
Banana with a light spread.
Wasa rye bread crackers with anything from cucumbers to fruit!

Some good Breakfast choices are:
Oatmeal, Plain yogurt with fruit and apple juice blended and honey for sweetener ( you can also add protein/fiber powders), Ham slices toasted in muffin trays for 10 minutes then crack an egg and bake in oven for another 10 minutes, fruit and whole wheat toast.

Lunches
Healthy sandwiches and measure if you like condiments, Salads, I eat roman lettuce with cranberries nuts and carrots, tomatoes I add in everything its sooo good! =) Soups are good just watch the sodium levels, Wraps are fanastic for lunches to the net has great recipes. Also Fish is great i love Tuna Melts- Tuna packed in water mixed with low fat mayo and pickles. spread it on whole wheat bread, grate some cheese on top and put it in the toaster ( you can add tomatoes to or use an english muffin)

Dinners
Chicken and fish are best for dinners, Your plate should be 1/2 veggies 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbs. If you go with pasta choose the red sauces over white sauces. Red Ones have tomatoes and herbs while white consist of flour, milk, butter ect. Dinners are hard to explain too many directions. There are some great websites online for healthy dinners!

Noice how alot of the foods are whole wheat and protien, Fiber is really important when it comes to weight loss. It keeps up your metabolism and helps digest the rotten foods. If you can stay away from processed food and preservatives and snack on veggies/ fruit.

And for exercise I would recommend going to a gym if you are not already. Apart of my work out consists of cardio from 20-30 minutes you want a heart rate of 140+.if not you can go for a jog around your neighborhood run up and down your stairs.
place your back against the wall and do squats, wall push ups then, knee push ups and then normal push ups. exercise is hard to explain =P i know some good websites!

Yeah I hope I helped! Also a persons diet should not consist over 2000 calories and if your trying to loose weight you want to aim for 1500!! =)
