Question: Please Help.. Went on Major Diet.. Need to know if Im eating right?
Hello, My husband is leaving for bootcamp but needed to go down on his body fat.. So we went on a major diet.. His is a little bit different from mine.. I was to the point were I wasnt healthy and I had a baby 10 months ago, and instead of losing I was packing on the weight..
We started the excercize program P90x.. which is hard but were sticking to it.. But Im not sure if this diet is right..
Morning.. either 1 boiled egg & 1/2 glass of skim milk
or
Im blending a banana and 5 strawberrys with 1/2 glass of skim milk & 1 boiled egg

snack.. 90 calorie granola bar
Lunch.. 1/2 can of tuna with teaspoon of low fat mayo and 5 saltines or sometimes on wheat toast..
snack.. orange
Dinner 1 small piece of chicken, with either steamed brocolli or green beans and side salad, with tablespoon of low fat italian

Im also drinking nothing but water any of the other times.. This was a major cut from what I was eating before, but the portions now Im used too.. Does this seem like a good diet:?

I too use P90X as my exercise program. I have been doing it for about 8 months. It is also a great program to maintain your weight.

I am 41 yrs old and over the years, I have maintained my weight. It's harder when you get older and after kids to lose weight, BUT it can be done. Congrats!

The meal plan in the P90X program is good. Have you considered their meal plan? If not, is it because there is a lot of cooking? If so, here is what you can do.

Firstly, it looks like you are not getting enough calories. Too little calories can work against you and you could actually burn less calories. You should also have 5 small meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2 snacks. One in the AM and one after lunch. That way your body does not think it is starving and preserve itself by burning calories slower. Keep feeding your body with small meals during the day and your body will burn calories faster.

You should have a carb in the AM with your protein to sustain you during the day. A good carb should be a whole grain. I like 1 serving of oatmeal in the morning that last me until lunch. I sometimes have to force myself to eat a small snack between breakfast and lunch when I have oatmeal for breakfast. A good breakfast that I like is 1 serving of oatmeal made with skim or low-fat milk, 1/2 cup of blueberries or strawberries (I like to add it to my oatmeal), and 1/2 cup of egg white cooked with non stick cooking spray. This breakfast is about 350 calories and fills you up without you wanting more food.

For snack consider a protein like albacore tuna. I like 4 oz of tuna seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder and low-fat mayo. I put the tuna on 2 cheese flavored rice cakes and it's DELISH! This snack is about 250 calories and does not leave you wanting more. I also like having an apple and low-fat yogurt for about 200 calories. This is another good alternative that does not have you wanting more food.

For lunch I like making salads, pizzas, and burritos. I also like the lunches in the P90s meal plan. (That's where I got the burrito recipe from.) My pizza recipe is Joseph's Pita Bread that I get at Walmart. (Its located near the bakery.) It is 60 calories per pita, so I can have 2 pizzas. I put tomato sauce and 1oz of low fat mozzarella cheese on top of each pita bread. I cook it for about 5-7 mins on 450 degrees. I put them straight on the oven racks because I like crispy pizza. I think they are tasty. I also make a salad with spinach and 1 tablespoon of ceasar dressing. The total calories of this meal is about 350.

For dinner I usually have a lean meat and a salad. Here is a trick that really helps me a lot.I have only 2 servings of carbs a day. So if I have a carb for lunch and breakfast, then I don't have a carb at dinner. If I have a carb for breakfast, but none for lunch, then I will have some for dinner. I don't have more than 1/2 to 1 cup of rice (brown is best for your digestion track).

I don't know how old you are and how much time you have, but for me I try not to go over 1800 calories a day. I workout 4-5x a week. This is so I can maintain my weight of 135 lbs. If you are younger, you can stick with 1800 calories and P90x lean exercise routine (5 days a week) and you can lose about 1 lb/wk. It takes about burning 3200 calories to lose 1 pound. I know it sounds like a lot, but just cutting out drinking sodas and juices everyday and replacing it with drinking water can burn 1 pound a week.

Good luck to you and I hope my info helps you and your hubby.

It seems ok, but when you are eating fruits and vegetables you need to eat more! You can have more than you are eating and still benefit from the diet, especially if you are doing p90x! That stuff is intense! Try eating more fruit and vegetables, and make sure you get plenty of protein-like eggs, soy milk (the silk chocolate is really good) and look up other good sources of protein and I'm sure you'll be fine. Also, fish is a great source. Try some fresh fish for dinner sometime! Hope this helped.

hey, I did have an overweight issue since I cant remember. I used to take all kinds of pills but nothing seem to work. Until a friend recommended this method, I was skeptical at first. There was little change for the first week, but I was feeling good. After losing that initial weight, which was great for my confidence, I started to develop good habits, especial my diet. I can't remember that last time I was this light. This is the place: www.1stloseweightnet.tk

You should be following the P90X diet plan. You will not get the maximum benefits from P90X without eating properly.

You are not eating nearly enough food, specially if you are working hard with P90X. If I were to guess, you are probably running out of gas before you are even half way though a workout......>
