Question: Do you think horseback riding is a good form of exercsie?
Answers:

HECK YES!!! I've been riding for eight years I would know. Dropping your irons and posting the trot and jumping can make your legs burn(I'm a sprinter) you have to control a 1000+ pound animal. The first time you ride you'll be sore and tired, cuz ur muscles aren't used to being used that way. You use your legs to accelerate the horse, balance, and to keep your position. Abs for resistance, balance, and strength. Arms for steering, extension, collection, emergency stops when the horse gallops off bucking. Yes fat people ride, but their horses are more made and don't require as much. Working in the barn and riding multiple horses will leave the best athletes tired. And if you haven't SERIOUSLY ridden WELL then shut your mouth. All real riders know what I'm talking about. So yes, when done well, riding is excellent exercise.

I'm a rider and a runner :)

No. I mean it's better than nothing, but if you are walking or trotting i would barely call it exercise. that's all i've ever done because i've never had a horse back lesson and don't live in the country so i've never had much time around horses. but when you see people on the racetrack that looks like hard work. but unless you are galloping for speed probably not.

for the horse, yeah.

but i have a friend who's a world champion horseback rider, and she's pretty fit, because it works your abs.

it's not enough exercise, though.

yeah...for the horse. Get your lazy behind up and walk

for the horse, yes....
