How quickly could a man lose one stone?!


Question: How quickly could a man lose one stone?
I weigh (I think) 17.5 stone - being 6ft.2.
I'm not obese... But I'm getting on it tomorrow, training and excercise.
Does anyone know by just dieting - without excercise; How quickly could I lose one stone?

And with excercise and dieting; How quickly could I lose a stone?

Depends on a lot of factors, perhaps the most important is your metabolism. Eating more often helps to boost this and cutting out unhealthy fats and sugars (perhaps even cut out fruit for short term weight loss). Avoid starchy carbs--potatoes, white rice, white bread, etc.

Get your carbs from vegetables and fruit (unless you've cut them out for a bit), and healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, avocado, etc. Lean proteins like fish, skinless chicken, etc.

1800 calories per day is considered minimum for a man in order to keep from going into starvation mode (your body conserves fat), but a larger person (like one who is 6 ft.2) may requires more, perhaps 2000 or 2200 calories per day.

For exercise, focus on cardio for short term weight loss--though any and all calorie expenditure helps.
