is Insanity good for a 14 year old?!

Question: Is Insanity good for a 14 year old?
Well, i'm 14, 6'2", somewhere around 190-195. Im not fat or anything, but im not very confident with really anything. I figure if i can commit to getting my body in shape like i want it to then ill have more confidence to do other things as well. Anyway, i've been reading reviews and stuff, but im not sure yet. Ive never been able to run a mile everyday without wanting to stop, which makes it hard to lose weight at all. So basically would it be good for me, or should i just say not for me?

Answers:

hi Dilllon.

Very few people can run a mile everyday without wanting to stop. Also I would like to add my personal opinion about running. It's one of the most idiotic forms of "exercise" a person can indulge in. It is extremely hard on every part of your body. It wrecks your body instead of making you look good. Please refrain from thinking long-distance running and jogging is normal-it's not. I suggest low-impact exercise. Brisk walking, going to the gym and using the eliptical machine, cycling are all awesome ways to get cardio in. You don't need to over do it. 25-40 minutes of dedicated cardio each day is great.
You also state that you're looking for something that will increase your self-esteem and confidence. Running is basically mindless and repetitive. You'll get tired of it quickly. I think it would be a really good idea for you to find a yoga class to join. Also, look up the health benefits of yoga- they're incredible and more abundant that what running offers. It tones your body, reduces stress, activates the parasympathetic system (which makes your look better), increases lung capacity, balance and self-discipline.

Good luck.

Dillon, I was confused because you ask at the beginning of ur question Is (Insanity=Crazy ) good for a 14yr. old but at ur height you should not be overweight, very tall people don't usually look like they weigh that much because of the height, At 14 you still have growing time until 19-20 yr. old so your sure to be very tall. Good Luck

I wouldn't see the problem. If a 14 year old can survive military P.E. in ROTC why not take an insanity class or buy the dvd.

side note: calisthenics not only help tone you, but it is a good way to keep yourself from over stressing joints and, keep your heart conditioned

Insanity is basically just that and cardio mixed with martial arts...

it doesn't say how old you have to be but it does say to consult with your physician before you start the workout.
