Do sit ups really help lose weight?!


Question: Do sit ups really help lose weight?
Doesnt it just grow muscle under the fat?
Also, if i want to lose around 20 lbs of belly fat, how many sit ups should i do, and how long will it take?
( Im 13, 5'4, and 135 lbs.) Thank you.

So im 12 . 5ft 3-4 and 126.0 lbs. My highest weight was 135 lbs and that was march 8th.
I've been doing sit ups for 5 minutes straight then break and then 5 minutes straight again and then break and i keep doing that for 30 minutes. This turns the fat into abs :) which ultimatly makes the stomache pretty flat. I'm really close to abs and you should do this every day (whatever time you like).

Also i play the wii fit for 30 minutes -1 hour and 30 minutes ( depending on how much time i have) and it is really helping. If you have the wii fit you should do the hoola hooping and other areobic games and also the strength training ones.

ANY physical activity will burn calories which in turn can lose weight.

The average person uses 12 calories/per pound at rest all day long. 3500 calories = 1 pound of Fat. If you use 1400 calories a day then just consume less than that. So if you eat 1050 calories 10 days in a row you will lose 1 pound of fat. If you eat 1050 calories/day and burn 350 in a workout then you will lose 1 pound in five days.

Bottom line if you want to lose weight ..... Eat Less and Move More!!!

Eat several small meals throughtout the day. Lots of lean meat and fruits and vegetables. Only water for a fluid. Workout during the day.



No.... sit ups will not help you lose weight. Weight loss is about calories burned. Sit-ups WILL help your abdominals be lean.... and that is what you see when you are looking at someone who has a six pack. Certain exercises are made to TONE specific muscles. Lean muscle tissue is SMALLER than muscle tissue that is not exercised. So.... to lose you fat, you must decide on a diet eating plan and stick to it. To give your body new definition, you must do resistance exercises that give you lean muscle mass.



sit ups do make you lose weight but you have to do it everyday and don't stop until ur really tired
after each 30 mins rest for 3-5 minutes and start doing it again
