Why does your body store calories at night?!

Question: Why does your body store calories at night?
I've been really trying to lose weight, so when I get hungry at night I either try to forget about it, drink water, or eat a banana. Anyways, I'm always used to hearing "Don't eat at night, that's when your body likes to store calories!" .. but why at night? Is it because you normally don't eat at night? But, what if you went to a different country for about a week and their day time was during our night time, then wouldn't your body be eating at a irregular time, therefor storing more calories. Sorry.. I'm probably making this way difficult, I'm just confused. I don't get why eating something at night will make that much of a difference as long as you ate a healthy meal during the day.. Anyways, I'll give best answer. Thanks!

your body does not store calories per se, you just are not burning as much calories because your body has less need for fuel. If you want some good info go check out Mike Geary (personal trainer)
