Why can't I lose weight?!

Question: Why can't I lose weight?
For the past three days I've tried to limit my calorie intake to 500 a day, I might have had 600 one day, but for the most part I stayed on course. And I was eating good things. Veggies, fruits, lean meats. I did some light exercising too. And I haven't lost any weight. Whats the deal?

Answers:

Losing weight doesn't magically happen overnight. The average recommended weight loss is about a pound each week.

Also, you need to have at least 1200cal per day to achieve healthy weight loss. Any less and your body will go into starvation mode and you will begin to STORE fat rather than losing it. Continue eating healthy food and doing more exercise, but increase your caloric intake. You should see results in about a month.

Good luck!

Experience. I went from 110lb to 100lb in a month. Yes, that's 2lb/week, but I radically changed my eating habits.

You don't magically lose weight in 3 days...anything in that short a time is just water loss. You should eat a normal amount of food, at least 1000 calories, of the types you mentioned. If you eat too little, your body thinks you are starving (which it was over these three days) and shuts down metabolism. What you want is your metabolism going up so eat properly. Also, you need more than light exercise...if you really want to see weight go, try to get at least 30 mins of intense exercise at least every few days, as well as 30-60 mins of lighter exercise the other days.

You need to raise your calorie intake. If you eat below 1,000 your body goes into starvation mode, and tries to retain as many calories as it can, so you might actually gain weight, but you won't lose any.

what you have done very well, proceed. you need is patience, it takes time to lose weight, your body needs to adapt.
