Is Battered Cod Fillets healthy?!

Question: Is Battered Cod Fillets healthy?
Ive bought it from iceland, I cook it in the oven i ate 2 with salad and beans? Is it healthy when you cook it in the oven? I dont use any oil etc when i cook it, I just cook it PLAIN.

Answers:

The batter definitely adds more calories then plain fish.
Also the batter means the fish has been processed somewhat, and according to "Food Rules" by Michael Pollan that is usually to be avoided.
Also it means the fish isn't fresh, which is a desirable quality.

All in all, it would be healthier to go with non battered fish.

Typically anything that is 'battered' is not going to be healthy...when you roll something in flour and egg or cornmeal and egg, you ad a lot of unnecessary, empty calories...frying it on top of that (which may have occured before you baked it) just adds to the calorie/fat count...

Buy unbattered fish in the future...uncooked...then when you bake it, you'll know if it's healthy or not based on what seasonings you add...

No, the batter still contains loads of oil. Check the fat content, it will be in the nutritional content. However, it is better than frying it.

If they are precooked, then it is likely that they were originally cooked in oil, whether you baked them or not. Heating it up plain won't make it healthy.

The only part that is not so healthy is the battered part. Next time no batter other than that it's fine and healthy.

hmmm not really.

no coz of the batter
