Congrats on your decision! I became a vegetarian when I was 13, and I still am now at 16. It is hard for the first couple of months, but you get used to it fast. I'm the only person in my family who's a vegetarian, but talk to your parents about trying to cook maybe just one or two less meat dishes a week, and cook a vegetarian dish instead. Also, if you're into cooking (or even if you're not, it grows on you), there are great vegetarian recipes everywhere online for when your parents are having meat. They're often easy and quick to prepare and always delicious. :) Also stock up on meat substitutes: two good brands are Boca and MorningStar, and they make all kinds of things like sausages, bacon, burger patties. My personal favorite has always been the black bean burger, so be sure to check that out!

School lunches are a little harder...the best solution for this is simply to bring your own lunch every day. It's easier and healthier. You could also talk to your school administration about providing options other than meat--I'm sure you wouldn't be the only vegetarian at your school.

Good luck!

vegetarian for 3 years, and lovin' it!

dont eat meat. shop and cook for yourself. take your own food to school. check out vegetarian forums and sites on the net. theres heaps of yummy vegetarian recipes on the net that are quick and easy to cook. talk to your school canteen/ make up a petition to put on the school notice board to get people to sign if they want to get vegetarian options in the canteen cafateria, or a sign saying you are looking for other vegetarians at your school, maybe you can get a group together with other vegetarian kids.

vegetarian is a great way to live, but be aware its a cruel world. i am surrounded by cannibal vultures and most of the time i have to prepare my own food and look after myself at meal times.

feel free to email me if you want more info or someone to talk to about vegetarian. always happy to help. just contact me through my profile here.
