Can you have Half & Half on the Atkins Diet?!

Question: Can you have Half & Half on the Atkins Diet?
I know that the Atkins Diet is very unhealthy ...however I feel like I've tried (and followed perfectly!) and haven't lost weight.
Today is day 1 of my diet and I don't want to blow it by having some in my coffee...actually...can you have coffee?
Thanks :)

Answers:

Loved the Atkins diet. I lost 50 pounds in 13 months and wrote about it. I was also on the cusp of diabetes and had high cholesterol. Atkins diet solved both problems. My cholesterol went down 30 points and diabetes is no longer a problem. I also had acid reflux - no more. That stopped after one month on Atkins.

I also love coffee. You can have cream in your coffee, but be sure to count the carbs. When you start you are allotted 20 carbs per day. That's the only thing you count. You don't count calories or fat. You eat 3 meals, or 4-5 smaller ones, until you are satisfied - not full - and then stop. You can drink coffee, tea, water, but remember to use Splenda, not white sugar. Some people can also drink diet soda (zero carbs), but that stalled me.

When I started, I had eggs and bacon for breakfast, or an omelet (if it was the weekends). For lunch I would go to the salad bar - chicken salad, tuna salad, greens, broccoli - you get the picture. No sandwiches, though, and I love sandwiches. For dinner it was some type of grilled or baked meat or fish with a vegetable.

For a change, I would take broth - chicken or beef - and boil my meat. Then add vegetables for soup. There are all types of low-carb recipes online.

Again, I love coffee. For a change, I would add a spoonfull of protein shake mix - chocolate - for flavoring with the cream in the mid morning so that I would be full until lunch. I would also, as a treat, take the protein shake with water and ice cubes or coffee and ice cubes for a refreshing drink and sip it on the back porch.

Hope this helps.
