micheal is right to say fat is burned overall not in a focused section of the body. but yes, a cross-trainer is great if you want to burn fat, actually better than a treadmill. i can't say much about the gym step as i do not have any experience on one. however, i would assume it is just as good as the cross trainer. the problem with the treadmill is that there is no constant resistance. resistance allows for strain to be present while extending and retracting.

i would recommend doing various exercises not just one. try some squats or lunge in addition to your machine workout. also, don't forget about your upper body. balance is key in being fit.



Theres no such thing as fat zone targeting exercises, you lose fat all around your body and the energy created from breaking down the fat is brought to the muscles that need the energy through the circulatory system.

Cross trainer is good for aerobic fitness and so is the treadmill. Increasing your aerobic fitness will make you more efficient at burning fat. To properly increase your aerobic fitness hire a personal trainer! They will motivate you properly and tailor make a program suited to your level of fitness and what your goals are.
