I gained a bit of weight and now my mother is making me self-conscious about it?!
Question: I gained a bit of weight and now my mother is making me self-conscious about it?
I'm normally not self-conscious about my weight, because I knew that I obviously wasn't fat. But now my mother's comments are making me worry about my sudden weight gain.
What should I do and how should I manage the weight gain?
Answers:
Are you sure it wasn't just a joke or was it serious? Your mom should never talk to you in that way. Tell her "I am very offended by what you said and I am not even getting fat. Have you ever heard of puberty?" Weight gain/fluctuation is totally normal during your teen years and does not mean you are gaining fat.
Does your mom have self image problems of her own? That is a likely cause for her speaking to you in such a rude, mean way.
Your mother is being a *****.
But, I would be much more concerned about why you have gained 7+ pounds in only 2 weeks with no change of diet or exercise.
That's really not normal and it could be a serious problem.
You should really go to the doctor.
You should confront her about her discomforting comments. Let her know how her comments make you feel and tell her whatever happens to your body should not be any of her business. A mother should not be asking her daughter or telling her why she is getting fatter.
