Why is my weight coming up as obese?!

Question: Why is my weight coming up as obese?
I am a young teen, am 5'2, and weigh 147 lbs. My BMI comes up as 26.9. It says I am very overweight and am almost obese. But I have NO (I mean NO) body fat. You can see my ribs. I've checked several different calculators and they all say the same thing. Why is my weight coming up as obese?

Answers:

you are probably just really muscular

That's a high weight for someone your height. But maybe your muscle is what's making you weigh that much. You should get your body fat percentage calculated to get an avurate reading of your true body composition and whether you need help. You can get the fat percentage calculated at your family doctor, a local gym or you could buy a scale that had body fat percentage reading.

well i am eleven and am 5'2 and am 139 lbs. maybe it is your height or if you did put your height maybe you have no belly fat but your thighs have more weight. or even your bust. it could actually be anything. just maybe try some cardio and if you lose a few lbs try to calculate your bmi again. hope this helps

my personal expeirence

BMI isn't the greatest predictor of health or weight.

For example, consider body builders. By BMI, ANY of them would register as obese! But are they unhealthy? no! Are they obese? definately not!

BMI is meaningless for many people - nearly all athletes come up as "obese" if you use BMI as your measure!

Much more important: how you look, how your clothes fit, how you feel.

You probably don't weight 147 lbs, your machine is really off. Otherwise, you may have heavy bones or even lots of muscle.
