Question: If I were to do 50 crunches every other day from here on out would a six pack develop?
Answers:

If you want to make your abs physically bigger (so they stick out more) you need to do high weight low repetition exercises. You can do 50 crunches in a row probably, try to find abdominal exercises that are so challenging that on the 10th rep you can't continue until you've had a minutes rest. Ideally you want to be maxing out at 8-12 repetitions per set. Don't do more than 4 sets in a workout. You can also use dumbbells and other heavy objects in your regular crunches and situps etc, to make them hard enough to fail on the 10th rep, which is exactly what you're aiming for when you want to build muscular mass. Do those 4 sets every other day(gotta rest 24 hours between ab workouts, at least), and keep your bodyfat percentage (your doctor can tell you how to test it, but you start to get abdominal definition at 10% bodyfat) below 10%. You'll see your ribs a tiny bit, but only in certain places.

Hope that helps, good luck, you'll see results in 4-8 weeks, depending on whether you're growing your muscles or shedding body fat. It's faster to lose fat than to gain muscle, but be patient and you'll get back what you put in.
