Question: I need help with coming to terms with my weight. Please help!!!?
Hi. I am 14 years old and i am approximately 5ft3 and i weigh 6 stone (83kg). Now the problem is i think i need to loose weight. I want to know is this over-weight or normal or what? And i have had minor eating disorders where i didn't eat. Now i don't eat breakfast, i don't eat lunch but i have to eat dinner (because of my family). Is this normal? I can't help but look in the mirror and think that i am fat, because that is what i see myself as but friends say i have to eat more, they're worried for me! But i want to loose weight and all i think about in lessons is about loosing weight and becoming thinner. If i eat something at lunch or something i get really cross but i can't help myself. Any advice or help. This has been such a relief that i can right this out and i would appreciate if there wasn't any hate.

eating disorders. first of all, this is not a problem withyour body, but your mind. i hate to say it, but your mind think that your body is FAT. so it starves itself thinking that iwll make you thinner.

you are hurting your body and you need to see that!! no wonder your friends are worried!!! your doing damage for your body:(:(:(:((
ok you have 3 choices.

1) you start eating more, and TRY to forget about losing weight. you just have to forget your weight and focus on health. of course, depending how long youve been doing this, it could be very hard.

2) come clean to your parents. i know this also seems like a drastic step but you have to tell your parents that you dont eat. they think you are eating, nourishing your body, treating it properly. but thats not whats happening.

3) take controll. take your bestfriend and try to overcome this problem TOGETHER. tell her whats wrong and shell slowly help you eat more and become less focused on your weight:(

You have to make a better choice of the foods that you are eating rather than stop eating completely.I know it would be difficult at your age to resist all the tempting foods.
It is important for you to understand that no weight is perfect.What you need to do is start increasing your sport and outdoor activities ,make new friends and enjoy your life.



Your question is confusing because 6 stone is 84 pounds, and 83 kgs is almost 183 pounds. So which is it? If you are 84 pounds, you definitely don't need to lose weight. If you are 183 pounds, then you do need to lose weight.



If you don't be careful you could end up an anorexic and have people playing around with your body using drugs, and experiments.



You are seriously UNDERWEIGHT for your height.

You should eat three meals a day.

It sounds like you still have an eating disorder.

Your underweight and not healthy. You may think your fat but even though you may not believe it right now, you don't see whats really in the mirror and your brain makes you think and feel that way. Its called a body dismorphic disorder. But you need to keep telling yourself that you are beautiful just the way you are, because theres soooo soo much more to life then a number on the scale. Society is messed up and the models and pictures you see over the internet, magazines, and television are all edited and airbrushed to a point they aren't even real anymore. And they set standards to high for any girl to meet, they make you feel bad about yourself purposely so that you will buy more beauty products and weight loss stuff. The models most companies use, are starving themselves, there are even some who've collapses on set.

Don't, not for a second, compare yourself to ANYONE else, you are beauuutiful just the way you are. You are underweight and unhealthy. your body needs nutrition to keep itself alive. Even though you think skipping meals is fine and its okay. you may say you feel fine, but you really aren't. Trust me, when you deprive yourself from food, your body has nothing to use for energy, so it starts to eat at your muscles. Your heart is one big muscle. And once it starts to eat away at your heart, it won't be strong enough, and it will give out, then tell me you feel fine? you also can get osteoporosis and many more complicated diseases with lack of nutrition. It's not okay to starve yourself.

your body needs three meals a day, breakfast is the most important meal. you should also have 2-3 snacks a day. It will be hard, i know. but don't give in to the voice inside your head telling you that you need to lose weight and that you need to skip a meal. it's not worth it. When you starve yourself or skip meals, your body's metabolism messes up and it holds on to everything you put inside your mouth. but if you eat three meals and three snacks a day, it increases your metabolism and your body rids of the access food you put in your body.

you will gain a bit of weight, but thats normal and healthy, you WON'T keep gaining weight and become obese. Your body will eventually even out and be set at a healthy weight FOR YOU! Not for what our messed up society says it should be. Guys also like girls with a lil bit of meat on them and girls that are healthy!!! Nobody likes skeletons!! :)

Life is wonderful!! You have many family and friends maybe even some pets that would die for you and love you sooo much!! And if there are people who tease you call you names, bully etc, they are NOT worth your time! Chances are the reason they are picking on you in the first place is because they feel terrible about themselves and are jealous of you!!! Don't let anyone bring you down or tell you you aren't beautiful!! EVER!!!! Keep eating normally!! it will take time and alot of effort!! but it'll all pay off in the long run! TRUST ME!!! :D

ps. I'm 14 and im a recovered anorexic. At my lowest weight i was 100 pounds and 5'8, i'm now 150 pounds and 5'8 and healthy and loving every second of life!! :) Because of anorexia, i've lost lots of friends and i was too skinny for any guy to like me, i stunted my growth, and shortened my life span by twenty years, my bones became very weak, i was severly depressed, i isolated myself and my life became revolved around eating and body weight, i spent 5 hours a day at the gym, i had a heart attack and almost died. But now that i'm recovered and don't give a second thought to eating, i love life, i'm healthy, i have guys waiting in line for me!! I'm a happy girl! DON'T LET EATING RUIN YOUR LIFE!!! :) because i almost died. and i shortened my life by twenty years. i won't live as long as you but at least i'm happy and healthy now.

These are the facts, i've been to eating disorder clinics and read and researched all the facts there is to know, and i've helped many young girls like me, and i'm only 14 :)

would it help if i said i was 5ft 9, and 13st? im more than twice your weight mate and i have a 32 inch waist with abs. im not to sure if i experienced the same thing but i was chubbe not long ago and when i lost weight i was litteraly barely eating because i was petrified of being chubby as my former self. but after reading about bodybuilding and being inspired by it all i am no longer afraid of eating, heck i eat loads a day. if your afraid of becoming fat compare yourself to your idols and ask yourself if they look beautiful or cool. chances are they are a healthy weight and you should try to be a bit more like them diet wise. good luck :)

My advice to you is to eat 6-8 small meals a day spaced apart every 2 - 3 1/2 hours. The reason why you weigh the weight you do is because you are eating big meals and it takes your body longer to digest, absorb the nutrients, and excrete the food. Notice I said 6-8 SMALL meals. If you work or go to school, bring a bag or backpack full of things you can eat on the go. Do NOT skip any meals as this will lower your metabolism. Also, eat to only 75% full capacity. Eat until you are satisfied but not stuffed. As for the weight loss aspect of things, you will need to make a calorie deficit. Meaning, you must make enough of a calorie gap in between your daily recommended intake of calories and your actual intake of calories. I'd suggest going on Google and searching "Daily Recommended Calorie Intake Calculator". You will need to make a 400+ calorie deficit in order to lose weight. Pretty simple right? Also, you can not lose weight without exercise. You must work out in order to see any physical changes. I can further help you in your journey but I can only post so much in this answer.
