Is it possible to lose weight simply by cutting down on calories?!

Question: Is it possible to lose weight simply by cutting down on calories?
In a day, I don't have the time to go to a gym, go running, etc.
I'd like to lose a little weight before the week of the 18th of April (holidaying)
Is it possible to lose weight without exercising? If I reduced my calorie, and general food intake would that make a difference?
I wish I had the time to exercise but my schedule is too tight!

I'd ideally like to lose 10 or so pounds, even with exercises, would it be possible to lose that much weight in such a short period of time?

Also, if you have any weight loss tips, I'd greatly appreciate them! :)

Answers:

Yes, but you have to know your body's normal daily calorie expenditure and consume less than that. For women, that is probably somewhere between 1500 and 1700 calories per day. To lose weight, you'd probably need to keep your intake 200 - 300 calories under that.

Well, it depends on your current weight too. I tried losing 10 pounds in 10 days before. I'm 230 pounds.

I exercise to lose 1000 calories a day and ate only 1 meal per day.
