Am i going to hurt myself really bad, for doing this, Cardiovascular activities!!

Question: Am i going to hurt myself really bad, for doing this, Cardiovascular activities!?
okay, im not that fit, so when i get on the excersise bike, and i ride it on medium / low difficulty *easy to pedal* and pedal really fast, i feel the burn and i get short on breath, i need to stop and get my breath back, as if i was running.

so if i wake up, in the morning, i go on the bike, and ride until i need to catch my breath, *which could be 2 minutes, cause i don't do this often* i'll be panting. than i rest, than do it again. than go have a shower, eat breakfast. *cereal.* and than ride because by then my breath will be back to normal. do it 3 times than i go about my day *computer, or watch a movie* eat lunch. at about 12pm. than after lunch i go on the bike again, and ware myself out again. than go on with my day, eat dinner, and go on bike again.

is that going to hurt me, or is that going to benefit me to weight loss?

Answers:

You're not going to hurt yourself doing this. Short spurts of exercise are actually very good for your metabolism. Now..to really call this interval training you need an exercise to rest ratio of about 2 to 1. Meaning you go full effort as you are doing for say...4 minutes and then you rest for 2 minutes. Exercising in this way increases your metabolism and also increases lactic acid production which will help you build and tone muscles. Now whether it will make you lose weight depends on a couple things. How many calories a day are you consuming? How long are you exercising total? In order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume. I suggest using a BMR calculator to figure out what your basal metabolic rate is. Only eat calories up to that amount and make sure you exercise at least 3 times per week. If you do these things you'll be well on your way to a ripped physique. It also doesn't hurt to throw a bit of weight training into the mix on the days you aren't interval training.
