Is this a good weight loss pace?!

Question: Is this a good weight loss pace?
I went from 166 to 159 in about four weeks. So, is 1-1.5 punds a week a good pace for the weight that I am? Also, and tips on losing belly fat would be appreciated! Thanks!!

That's a good pace. I lost over 50 lbs over 2 years (from 270 to 215, at a height of 6-3) and have kept it off for 6 years now. I think slow weight loss that comes from developing good health habits is better than rapid weight loss from doing some more extreme dieting or exercise habits.

As far as belly fat goes, I don't think there is a way to spot reduce. Everybody accumulates fat more easily in different places, and when you lose fat, it comes off where your body is ready to lose it. You can't choose to lose the fat in your belly instead of the arms. I tended to lose weight in my extremities first, like my neck, lower legs and wrists first, then the chest and thighs, and finally in the belly and butt last.

To lose fat more quickly, get your exercise intensity higher. I started losing weight faster when I started jogging. I would walk for 7 minutes, then jog for 5 minutes, then walk 7 minutes, jog for 5 etc. After I was comfortable with that, I started making my jog intervals longer and walking intervals shorter. So work in higher intensity cardio workouts, for at least 30 minutes but not more than an hour, and this will help you lose fat, all over.

That is a great pace for weight loss, and it is one that could be very maintainable. The problem with dieting is that most people try cutting too many calories all at once. That causes your body changes its metabolism to try and survive on less calories. This will certainly hurt your overall weight loss instead of helping it.. You may start to feel deprived all of the time, and in the end people usually give into the cravings and gain back all that they have lost. Jeorge Cruise, in his book, The Belly Fat Cure, explains that rather than dropping things from your diet, you just need to swap the carbs for ones that have natural fiber and sweeteners. The problem is that refined sugar and processed wheat flour (core ingredients in junk food) are carbs that have the fiber and balancing nutrients stripped out of them. The refined sugar and processed flour are converted right into blood sugars. This spikes insulin levels, which creates the fatty acids that eventually end up piling on the fats in all the places you don't want them. Eating the right foods will melt the belly fat and help you maintain your weight without those terrible cravings. For a big list of foods that Jorge suggests visit http://bellyfatburningfoods.org

1-1.5lbs/week is awesome! Congratulations. That's a very healthy pace for your weight.

Regarding the belly fat inquiry, no one likes this answer-- you cannot lose "belly fat" specifically. The only way to reduce the amount of belly fat is to reduce the amount of body fat. The best way to do this is to continue on your weight loss regimen-- burning more calories than you consume. I recommend Livestrong.com's MyPlate for crafting a nutrition plan and Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown or 30 Day Shred. You can read reviews of all three on my blog-- www.delightfulshrinking.com

Good luck! :)

I think it's fine. Doctors always say not to lose weight fast, but I have a really fast metabolism and I can go up or down a couple pounds weekly and I'm in good shape.
Tips for losing belly fat, I jog in place while watching tv at night or run early morning for a couple miles. Those really work for me.

Its not bad.....it depends how tall you are? If your 5'10", your doing good. If your 5'3".....then you got some work to do!
