Do squats and deadlifts work calf muscles?!


Question: Do squats and deadlifts work calf muscles?
Did legs on saturday.
And did calf raises fOr the first time ever on sunday so decided to shock them and did too much too soon
For the last 3days ive had extremely painful calves, its very difficult to walk especially wen getting up from sitting down
Anyway i want to do my upper legs but im not going to if it will work my calves
Its pretty tough workout so dont want to worsen calves

Squats will use your calf muscles a bit since they add to the stability of your lower leg but they don't actually "work" them. The best thing for you to do is to try a few. If you feel pain or pulling in the muscles then you just forget about that particular workout and allow the muscles time to heal. You can work your upper body and substitute the leg exercises on another upper body day.

Listen to your body and do what it tells you. Remember that soreness is normal, PAIN is not.
