How do I know if I'm flexible enough?!

Question: How do I know if I'm flexible enough?
Like, what abilites during stretching mean that you are flexible enough? Does touching your toes mean you are flexible enough for normal life?
Or should I be able to have my knee touch my head when I touch my toes?

I hope you understand the question, I can't explain it...

Answers:

Flexible enough for what?

You can live a fairly normal and active life without being very flexible at all. You can also exercise perfectly effectively without being particularly flexible (although exercising usually improves flexibility with time, particularly if you take time to stretch afterwards). I know a black belt in judo who can't touch his toes and it's never done him any harm. Some people are just naturally more flexible than others (the same as some people tan more than others, or are taller than others - everyone is different) , you can improve that flexibility, but there is always a limit. As long as you look after yourself physically I don't think it's worth worrying about.

I'm a level 2 NCCP certified Gymnastics coach, and I can't touch my toes for more than a split second. I get by just fine in normal life, I have no complaint with my flexibility and I work in an area of the work force where flexibility is arguably most important.

Reaching your toes ain't enough.... yeah, when your head touch your knee, you have a very flexible back. Search the internet for more info! :D

ask again when you can explain it...
