Is it normal if you can't bench press your own body weight?!

Question: Is it normal if you can't bench press your own body weight?
For ex. if you are 160 lbs that means you should be able to bench press 160 lbs? I'm 150 lbs and I can't lift that kind of weight :S

Answers:

Well, it is healthy. My old gym teacher told me that the healthy people can bench twice their weight. I've never really believed that though. I can bench 175 right now, and I weight 170. But I had to work up to that like crazy. I actually started with doing 50 pounds, then 75, then 100, and so on. It took about 2 1/2 months for me to finally work up to being able to do 175. So just work on it.

It depends. You work out for a long time? If yes then it is not normal. If you dont and you are a begginer give your body saom time to work its way up. Either way i wouls suggest you start with a strength training routine.check this article out. I believe it would be most helpful to you. You can also add this site to your favorites. For people who don't lift weights, they cannot lift their own body weight. So I would say yes it is normal. Once you start working out you will be able to lift your body weight.

You have to work up to that kind of weight. Your muscles need to be trained to lift a heavier load.
