How can a 15 year old gain weight?!

Question: How can a 15 year old gain weight?
I just turned 15 a couple weeks ago and I am 6"4 and weigh about 172 pounds. I want to know what I should eat or drink(Protein powder) to gain muscle for basketball. I am allergic to dairy though so only egg or other types of non dairy proteins please. Also any ideas for training in the off season, excercises, etc...
Thanks

Answers:

Since you said you're allergic to dairy the other people above didn't really seem to read your question and just listed them anyways. But I think that whey protein would be a good idea but if you are worried about it you can always consult your doctor before taking it, it really should be fine since protein is just protein.

In terms of food try to go for calorie dense foods if you want to gain weight like pasta, nuts, banana things like that. Just make sure you are getting a lot of healthy calories each day (3000-5000)

In term of ideas for training check out bodybuilding.com : http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.p… They got some articles on different things you can do to train for basketball.

Good luck.

You answered your own question. You need proteins.

Eat eggs, red meat, nuts. Add protein powder to your food. Drink protein shakes. Any protein supplement will do the job, but some people see better results when they use creatin. And on top of that, you need to train because the food alone won't make a huge difference.

forget protein powder. that is NOT approtpriate for a 15 year old boy.
instead of dairy use oil. non dairy proteins? try eggs, meat, chicken, turkey, ground beef, ground chicken, ground meat in general, veal, beans (they are loaded like lentils) almonds, other nuts, protein bars...
eat lots of thoes foods, whole grains and fruits and veggies and lift LIGHT weights. youl gain muscle that way without stunting your growth.
also eat until your completly FULL. otherwise youll lose not gain. make that completly bloated:)
luck:)

i dont know much about protein shakes sorry but exercise wise start off using weights (light weights more reps) heavier weights less reps, doing this often will increase muscle and strength on your upperbody. if you do not have weights look around your house for heavy items and i know it sounds daft but just lift it continuously...... situps work on your abs (help get a six pack lol)
