is a calorie a calorie?!

Question: Is a calorie a calorie?
I ate almost nothing today except one salad and a little rice.. but then I had three 100 cal cake things... so my question is, are those 100 cal cakes as fattening if I haven't exceeded my calorie intake today, or are they just as detrimental to my weight and body fat ratio?

Answers:

Actually, it's true that a calorie is a calorie. Calories from fat aren't any more likely to be stored as fat than calories from protein or sugar.

Things that will cause those calories to be stored as fat:
- If you eat all your calories at once and don't eat for most of the rest of the day. To your body, that will feel like you're in the midst of a famine and are having trouble finding food. It will cling to the fat.
- If that salad and rice didn't add up to at least 900 calories together. Most people have real trouble losing weight if they eat less than 1200 calories. Again, it's the famine thing. Your body will actually be more likely to take calories from your organs than your fat stores. Yay.

Also, it's just about the way you feel. You'll probably have an energy rush and an energy crash, which doesn't make you feel great about your body.

the calories aren't any better or worse, but what make up the calories can be.
like if you have 100 calories of almost only carbs with no protein, it's technically worse than all protein with little to no carbs, but if that's all you are it's not like there's really enough calories to affect anything.

Yes those little 100 calorie packs are fattening no matter if you went over or under your calorie intake. A calorie doesn't make you fat. It is what that calorie comes from that makes you fat. Ex calories in fat, proteins and dairy will be turned to fat if you eat too much of it.

Your is a calorie is a calorie because the calorie is exceeded to the calorie and the calorie is the calorie because the calories is a more than a calorie.
