4 heads of lettuce.

eating lettuce in any amount will not cause you to lose weight. How could consuming calories (even small amounts) cause one to lose weight??!!

its the same as not eating. lettuce is mostly water.

It's not about what you eat, in all honesty, it's about the calories. So you just need to figure out how many calories are in the lettuce that you are eating and if you keep your cals severely restricted then it will happen. Keep in mind though, that lettuce is primarily water, so the weight you'll lose from it will be water weight, which you will gain bck the minute you eat some sort of starchy or fibrous food. But with the way you asked the question, it seems like you're just trying to get a quick weight loss for some reason. So if you go about it this way, you're pretty much just gonig to be draining the water that your body stores in the muscles and between the muscles and skin. So if you do go this route, make sure you drink ALOT of water because there will be a risk of dehydration.

this is basically the same as the "cabbage soup" diet. My dad did this a few times and it's great for losing weight real quick, but it is all water weight. If you don't have much fat or anything, losing that water weight can def. make you more aesthetic because it will show more definition and you can see muscle separation, but like I said, it's waterweight so the minute you put something in your body that will hold water (such as carbs) the weight will be back within a couple of days.

And in response to the one poster...I don't even understand how you can ask that question. You're body needs calories to perform it's biological function and for energy. If you don't take in calories your body has to get the energy somewhere so it starts eating away either fat or muscle, depending on how many calories you're taking in. Calories are the single most important factor when losing weight. You're body burns approx 1900 calories just by doing it's normal bodily function. And that's only considering bodily functions, not if you get up and start doing stuff. If you just lay in your bed and don't move for 24 hours, you're body will burn calories by performing it's biological functions. If you don't eat anything, then you're body needs to get that 1900 calories from somewhere, and it will usually be muscle that starts getting broken down to provide your body with energy to perform its functions. You need to take in enough calories so that your body isn't starving, but less calories than your body burns in a given day. Not taking in calories causes your body to go into a catabolic state and it will basically start eating itself.

The amount of lettuce that you eat just has to be under your BMR (number of calories you burn a day).

You could eat cookies all day and still lose weight if you consume fewer calories than you're burning.

You're gonna drive yourself crazy eating lettuce all day kid, there's nothing in it that will sustain you and you won't last long, belliiieevee me. Infact, eating like that, you'll probably lose a few pounds for the first few days (ALL water weight and muscle mass, NO fat like you probably want) and then you would have fu*ked your metabolsim up so bad that when you eat after you're gonna gain more weight than what you had even started out with.
