Alright brother, I saw your picture and it looks like your already toned pretty well. I would have to say to use the 2nd program for building muscle if your metabolism is like mine was when I was about your age. I couldn't gain 2 pounds of muscle or fat in a month back then and I was consuming about 6000 to 7000 calories a day. Half of which was protein powder, but still that equals a lot of money. My problem with building size was, I was using a program closer to the first one with high reps and burning everything I consumed way too fast. Remember PROPER rest/sleep will be the only way to 'build' or repair what you stretch. Think of a bungee cord (muscle) that you pull on constantly. If you don't give it a chance to pull itself back together it will only be a stretched rubber cord. But anyway i'd say go with the second program. And BE CAREFUL with the amount of weight! I was not so careful, and now I suffer with arthritis in my joints in my 30's. And always stretch and warm up properly before you hit it! Take care bro..

My past experience in weight training.

When you lift weights do high repetitions. Usually between 10-15 repetitions per set will build muscle.

Whichever routine you think you will enjoy.

its not just about working out its also about diet. make sure you get lots of protein and drink as much water as possible. not even joking, water will help so much.
