When it comes to losing weight calories are the only thing that matters when trying to lose weight and gaining weight. Fat weight i mean. Cut back on your calories and then exercise on a regular basis to burn additional calories and eventually you will start to lose weight. Remember 1 pound is 3500 calories so you need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 pound of fat. Now in my opinion the best cardio exercises are the exercises that use the legs fully. Running, jogging, walking, uphill biking or a mix of walking and jogging are the best. Walking a mile usually takes about 15 minutes and in that mile walking at a good pace you will burn about 100 calories depending on your weight and sex. now say you cut back on the food your eating by 250 calories then if you burn up 250 calories with exercise like walking or jogging or both you will lose 1 pound of fat in 7 days. If your obese and around 250 to 300 pounds or over you can lose about 6 pounds of fat in 1 week. If you weigh that much you will be able to eat about 3000 calories to maintain so if you cut back to 1500 calories thats a 1500 calorie difference right there add in 45 minutes of walking thats about 2000 calories. 2000 times 7 is 14000 calories so thats about 4 pounds lost in 1 week. But if your only about 25 to 30 pounds overweight your body needs alot less calories to maintain so you would be only able to lose 1 or 2 pounds in 1 week.

PS. When i have people lose weight i dont change what there eating right away i just get them to eat less. So eat what you usually eat but make the portions smaller. When you lose the weight then your done goal one. The next goal should be to try to eat healthier. If you make too much of a change right away your more likely to quit.

When anyone wants to lose weight a major part of it requires cutting back on the calories taken in. You should be eating about 1200 calories per day if you are trying to lose weight. However, eating 1200 calories of junk food is not equal to eating 1200 calories of vegetables and lean protein. Make sure you do not eat too much sugar or processed foods. Instead snack on raw vegetables, fruit, and protein like yogurt, nuts, and lean meat (fish, chicken, pork). Also, make sure you incorporate exercise in every day. You do not need to workout for hours each day, but just do at least 30 minutes to get your metabolism going. Also, drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses per day).

Good luck!

Like the previous commenter said, that bmi result is WAY incaccurate. Also, eating less calories will just make you hungry and you will lack nutrients, and when you're off the diet, you'll just put the weight back one.
You need to have a balanced diet, eat healthy, and exercise. Even jogging every morning will do wonders, but remember to have days off to allow your muscles to repair and eat protein rich food, preferably in the next 2 hours.

That BMI is inaccurate first of all, second diet and exercise is the best way to lose weight. Its hard to lose weight by just eating differently. Secondly do not be discourages if your weight remains the same or goes up after a couple weeks. You are probably trading fat for LBM (lean body mass) which is good so you make weight the same, but you will look much better.

Exercise and eat healthy. Don't eat too many calories, but don't starve yourself.
